SEO Keywords – Very Important
Which keywords should you use in your site?
Without the right keywords in your web pages the chances of on-line success are very small. Most hits come from Search Engines. So basically you need search engines to match up search queries with your web page keywords / content. Do you know what keywords are best for your web site ??
How important are keywords ?
They are very important. Again it is VERY IMPORTANT that you do your ‘keyword’ homework here. Take some time out to find the best keywords for your website / product – you should know better than anyone…
If your product is fairly unique it may be obvious what keywords to use. But for most of us who are in trading in the Global, competitive and saturated on-line market will have work much harder. But this time and effort should pay you back in no time…
How to choose Keywords
Ok, so you may know your product and you know it sells in the real world. You know where and when best to advertise your product. Locally you know that the local daily is distributed to local people – the audience is smaller and the local competition is smaller. So % wise you got a good chance of attracting some attention, right?
But in the Cyber World things aren’t so straight-forward as your potential audience and competition is ENORMOUS !!! And the COMPETITION WILL WANT your keywords too! It’s CYBER-DOG EAT CYBER-DOG in the virtual world!
- You SHOULD know your business much better than anybody else so you’ll know the special terms used by your customers / industry. These are likely to be good search terms for when people look for products like yours.
- TELL YOUR web master what keywords you WANT. Don’t leave it to chance.
- Don’t use Jargon! Unless you want to attract the ‘geek’ element or your product demands it. Your customers may not know the industry jargon or terminology. They might use totally different keywords (maybe simpler ones).
- Consider the intention of the searcher? (Put yourself in their shoes). Just because a keyword is popular it doesn’t mean that you’ll get many buying customers. People who find your website through a special keyword might not be interested in purchasing… just finding out info’ on the subject/product.
- Use on-line tools to help you find good keywords. Google Suggest / Adword Tools / Yahoo Keyword Tool / Use Visitor Stats / Axandra Search IBP Optimizer / Google Keyword Tool
- Effective keywords must be popular, specific, and they must be used by your target searchers.
