Google Ranking a New Website

It can take a while for Google (and other search engines) to list and rank your site. Why?

The basic answer is ‘TRUST’. Google search engine ‘watches’ your site closely until it makes it’s ‘mind’ up wether to trust your site and that it has bona-fida content. Many sites are a vehicle for Spammers, Hackers or trying to trick Google into ‘Black-Hat’ techniques to make a quick $ or two with adverts or pornography.

So a new site in particular has to build up it’s reputation over time. Google will give a new domain a page-rank of zero (0 out of 10) until it ‘trusts’ the site.

Older Sites Rank Better

That’s why, generally an older site is page-ranked higher than a new one. So when we say ‘It takes time to get good results in search engines’ we really mean it. How fast depends on your SEO strategy, the time, effort and money you put into boosting your ranking. For sure, if you DO NOTHING, your site will stay zero and customers may never find you. That’s on-line commercial suicide, surely?

This makes sense too in our opinion. Why should a new site about mobile phones, say, be ranked higher that a site 2 years old and whose owner has spend time and money boosting his/her links, keyword strategy and pay-per-click adverts ?

The web is a COMPETITIVE MARKET, same as the real world.

You have to work harder these days to get a Top 10 (or decent place in Google). They are wise to most ‘Black-Hat’ keyword spamming techniques. So learn more about on-line marketing and search engines or ask your web designer to help/recommend a SEO Expert.
