WWDC Interview: We Have pink Power !!

The WHICH WEB DESIGN COMPANY recently interviewed our staff. Here it is on all it’s glory (or not). You can also read our Client Review and Comments about our services – they are quite good – thanks to all that took the time to write such nice things!

… ok here’s that interview:

WWDC: What’s your name and position in the company?
DI Web Design (UK): Maureen

WWDC: Describe your company in 5 words.
DI Web Design (UK): honest, value, professional, experienced, helpful

WWDC: What’s your business philosophy?
DI Web Design (UK): Keep it simple, be professional and give value to every project. To go beyond the cosmetics of web sites by ensuring a site is coded and designed to high standards for it’s users and search engine marketing at an affordable price.

WWDC: Describe your office environment.
DI Web Design (UK): Relaxed and tidy (most of the time), busy and virtually anywhere on the planet !!

WWDC: Describe how your team interact and work together.
DI Web Design (UK): Virtually. We use modern communications such as VOIP, Email, Chat and Digital channels across the web. The design and build process across the web allows us to work faster and produce faster, better results in a relaxed manner and with out office politics… this is the age of the Internet after all !

WWDC: What makes you different from other web design companies?
DI Web Design (UK): Value with High Standards. Customised to pixel perfection. We wouldn’t release work if it wasn’t to our usual high standard and validated as coded to W3C guidelines. Above all we offer experience and can give very valuable advice and tips that increases your chance of on-line success beyond the “pretty” design.

WWDC: How do you get the majority of your business?
DI Web Design (UK): Word of mouth. Apart from our web site and directories like this we have NOT paid a single penny in advertising in 3 years. 80% + come to us via recommendation. We’re proud of that.

WWDC: Describe how you manage projects from the initial client contact to completion and handover.
DI Web Design (UK): We are so flexible. We really do bend over backwards. Our process is tailored because after years of dealing with small to medium businesses that all work differently, have differently needs and differing knowledge of IT projects. No two projects are alike so no two processes are alike. Some clients prefer a very personal hand’s on approach, others prefer to communicate through email. We don’t mind, whatever suits. For sure we are very responsive in turning customer ideas into a design, build, test and release. And we ALWAYs look to spot issues and advise on possible solutions – such as usability, search engines, content layout, branding… that’s where customers realise we add value. They love that !

WWDC: What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
DI Web Design (UK): Communication and understanding their needs. We seem to have a knack for that. Countless customers have said we interpreted their garbled / early ideas into something tangible and useful and usually in a speedy manner.

WWDC: How do you manage demanding clients?
DI Web Design (UK): Demanding clients just need more of your time – so that’s what they get. We prefer if a customer takes an active interest, it means they care about the design as much as we do. Bring ‘em on!

WWDC: If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?
DI Web Design (UK): Speak to them all. Test their knowledge. Measure the rapport. Ask what value they can add beyond the creative design such as Search Engine Marketing, after-sales support, how quick they can turnaround change requests and if they have ensured professional error-free coding standards. And price is no indicator of value or standards – more expensive doesn’t mean a better site or guarantee success.

WWDC: Where do you see your company in 10 years time?
DI Web Design (UK): Large enough count, small enough to care but expanding into new web devices/technologies, hand held internet devices, web TV and employing more people.

WWDC: Where do you see the web design industry in the future?
DI Web Design (UK): More sites merging into other media and accessible across many devices – sites will need to be built once but used and interact across many platforms. It’s already happening with things like FaceBook, YouTube and Twitter. And it can’t be too long where the TV/web are merged and very interactive.

WWDC: What computers do you have use in your offices, PCs or Macs?
DI Web Design (UK): Both PC and Mac

WWDC: How was your company name chosen?
DI Web Design (UK): That took a while, we wanted to sound modern & unique but globally it’s hard to find a unique name. After many tries we think we have it. We didn’t want to be just “Sky Web Design”. If you search our name you’ll find us on the web. That’s good.

WWDC: If you were to give your clients one tip on how to get the most from their website what would it be?
DI Web Design (UK): Think past your design theme, and optimise the site for ease of use and getting high in the search engines. Pretty pictures are unlikely to win sales, they have ot find you first.

“Many thanks for a great job on the ShareMaestro web site and the rapid turnaround. Your support has been fantastic throughout this project.”

We just completed ! Digital Idiom have designed the new web site for ShareMaestro [ creators of  the UK's Premier Investment Software ]. Dreamweaver Web Templates

For the web design & web development community, Adobe Dreamweaver and it’s accompanying suite of web design software has revolutionised and speeded up the whole web design work flow. Because Dreamweaver is so flexible and adaptable many new ‘add-ons’ or extensions are available to Dreamweaver Owners.

These ‘add-ons’ include pre-made web templates and design / coding extensions that get a repetitive task done a lot quicker such as CSS Menu Building or Shopping Carts.

We will soon be launching a new Dreamweaver based web site for free or value Dreamweaver Templates and Dreamweaver  Extensions. So watch this space for more news !
